Sweet Zombie Jesus!

In 1999, C. Glen Williams began work on independent productions under the name Sisyphus Films. His first production was an early webcast called "Staring Down the Barrel of a New Millennium." The webcast was only one episode long, and it featured stock footage combined with new footage shot using a black-and-white webcam.

Sisyphus Films' next productions came in 2001, first with the archival recording of Glen's original play, Three Shots Fired Point Blank, and then continuing with the video reading of his next play, Alive From Birkenau. What followed was a hiatus for his film projects that lasted five years.

The next time Sisyphus emerged, it was with the short film Der goldene russische Spion, der liebte zu töten. Edited completely from stock footage, it was entered into the StockStock film festival where it was not selected. A parody of James Bond films, it featured voice work from Glen as all male voices and Moninna Reardon as all female voices. The video can now be viewed on YouTube, as well as purchased on DVD.

A quick Google search revealed that using the suffering of Sisyphus - forever doomed to roll a giant stone up a hill without ever being allowed to advance - as a metaphor for independent filmmaking was not an original idea. As a result, Glen stopped using the Sisyphus Films name in 2006 and began producing under his new name, Sweet Zombie Jesus! The first SZJ! film was to be a recording of another live event, this time a recording of Fumbling With the Blues. While looking at expanding the concert footage with improved audio and additional stories, Sweet Zombie Jesus! has released Fumbling With the Blues v0.1b(ootleg). The archival footage of the concert with unsweetened audio is available on DVD, and purchasers are encouraged to make copies and pass them on to their friends on a not-for-profit basis.

Sweet Zombie Jesus! projects in the works include Fumbling With the Blues: Gone Gold, mockumentary Franchises Are Forever, comedy-about-romantics Spring Madness, a film of the new one-man show No Sleep 'Til Minsky's, and a film adaptation of Three Shots Fired Point Blank. In addition, Glen continues to work on new screenplays.
